Out of town guests: Touring San Diego! Where to take them and how to save money!

I love when back east relatives come for a visit!
I’d fun planning activities, meals and adventures.
One of my favorite ways to share my beautiful city is the Seal Tour.
And I’ve got some money saving advice for you:  Did you know San Diego residents
can go free with each paid guest?  Well they can and that makes it even more fun and doable!
(The Old Town Trolley – which is also a great tour also offers a hometown discount!)

The tour starts in Seaport Village (so plan on spending an hour or so there before or after your tour for a bit of touresty shopping and grabbing lunch

Then your tour bus/boat heads to Shelter Island and drives straight into the bay!

Where you see lots of native wildlife, our amazing city sky line
and learn all about the history of San Diego and North Island Naval Base….

Back east guests always need a stop at In N Out burger!!
And a walk in the gaslamp….

And a stroll through Balboa Park!  (I have a little bit of history of the park memorized so I can give them a full tour courtesy of Pam the tour guide!)

Here’s one other tip for you — the Timken Museum is always free.
I’ve found that to be a fun little stop because it seems like my guests don’t really want to buy tickets and spend a whole day at a museum – this little free stroll in a small museum let’s us all feel cultured without investing $20 a person and feeling like you need to spend the whole day in a museum to get your money’s worth…..
(And I don’t mean to say our museums aren’t fabulous and worth the admission ticket,
but sometimes that’s not what guests are looking for.)

The botanical building is also free – so definitely stroll in there!

And the BEACH!  Gotta stop at the beach —
to see the sights…

And take a kayak tour….

Thanks for visiting!!!!
