Sunset on the Beach Portraits: 5 tips to the perfect session. (Carly Class of 2017)

It’s almost high school graduation day for this sweet senior!
We met at my favorite beach for some sunset fun to capture
senior portraits – to hang on the wall, gift to grandma share on social media
and use for graduation announcements.

She is a great illustration of making the most of her session….
1.  She brought her family!
Family is included free so why not capture more of a “slice of life”
by bringing the family along — our senior’s wouldn’t be the awesome person they are now
without family, so let’s honor that!
(And anyway, won’t you need a family portrait for this year’s Holiday Cards….? )

2.  She brought some great outfits!  Three completely different looks (a dress, and then jeans with two different tops) so she will have lots of variety in her gallery.

3.  We met at sunset so we had beautiful soft light without harsh shadows and squinty eyes.
****And can I mention that just as important as time of day, she chose a photographer who knew how to use a flash – so we could capture those amazing sunset skies!

Technical note from Pam:    Did you know that “natural light” photographers are not able to capture all the colors of the beautiful sky AND capture proper exposure on faces?

Okay – back to Carly!

4.  She was game to give anything a try!  (from video to photos, candid to formals, posed to silly!)

5.  And she remembered to tell me any special portraits she wanted –
like one with just her and mom and just her and dad!
