Frivolous Friday: A GIANT Chicken, Self Realization and a Turtle

Frivolous:  carefree and not serious, lighthearted, giddy

Yep, this happened #1:
Had a close encounter with a 12 foot chicken AND lived!  Also tried a new restaurant.
Both occurred at the same location:  The Crack Shack.
The restaurant has been in Little Italy for a few years, but I’d read about their new
location opening in Encinitas sowe decided to give it a whirl.
It was FUN with a cool, trendy and outdoorsy vibe.  The food
was delish.  As the name suggests everything on the menu is based on eggs or chicken.
They are known for their fried chicken but I had an awesome salad
that I could eat every day for a year!
I definitely recommend you give Crack Shack a try!
(And I’ll add a noteworthy item for parents with little kids – they have a sandbox filled with sand toys – so you can sit at the table and enjoy your meal or adult beverage while the kids safely play!
That is so clever)
More about the restaurant including website link on my blog.

Yep, this happened #2:

After our lunch we needed to walk a bit, so we strolled around the stunning gardens of the Self Realization Fellowship – did you know they have an open gate policy so you can stroll around whenever you want?  So peaceful and gorgeous – I recommend a visit!

    Yep, this happened #3:

My hiking pal and I were walking around Miramar Lake
when we came upon a turtle crossing the road!
We said “Turtle, why are you crossing the road?”
He said “To get to the Shell Station.”
We had just enough time to stop for a ‘shellfie’ with him.
    Ha ha….oh I crack myself up sometimes..I’m just Shell-arious aren’t I….?
Seriously though, we were worried about his safety being on the road and all….but thankfully, just as we were wondering what to do, another walker came up and knew how to safely pick him up and carry him down to the water’s edge.
So we continued our 5 mile walk feeling happy that he was safe!

And if you didn’t like those Shell-arious turtle jokes here are some others to choose from:

Q:What do you get when you cross a turtle and a porcupine? A: a slow-poke.

Q: What do turtles use to communicate? A: A shellphone!

Q: Why did the turtle cross the road? A: To get to the shell station!

Q: What does a turtle do on it’s birthday? A: It shellebrates!

Q: Where do you send turtles who commit crimes? A: To the shell-block.

Q: What happens when you bring a turtle to a party? A: It becomes a shellebration.

Q: What did the cow say to the turtle? A: Get a moove on

Q: What do you call a famous turtle? A: A shellebrity.

Q: What happens when you get into fight with a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle? A: You get shell shocked.

Q: What do you get if cross a Turtle with a Giraffe? A: A Turtle-Neck
