Close encounter with a GIANT chicken: The Crack Shack

Cock-a-doodle-DOOOOOOO.
Tried a new restaurant!
Well, new to me….the first Crack Shack opened in Little Italy two years ago but
we visited their Encinitas location (which opened three months ago.)
The open air restaurant has a great feel to it – hip and trendy with a fun ‘chicken vibe’
Their motto is “The proof is in the poultry” so clearly we need to talk about the FOOD!

One of their specialties is fried chicken – and it looked DELISH!

I enjoyed a salad called “The Downward Dog”
It featured roasted local vegetables, hazelnuts, quinoa, hummus, kale with lemon yogurt vinaigrette.
And I have to show you how beautiful and clever their presentation was:
Can you see how they added a swoop of hummus around the bowl before they layered in the salad….?

One of my friends ordered their California Dip sandwich with
pollo asado, schmaltz fries, pickled jalapeño, bolillo bread
and avocado with posole broth for dipping.

And some of their salads come on a tray….kinda fun!

And what parent wouldn’t love a restaurant with a sand box!!!!

Check out their website for more info so you can have your own
encounter of the poultry kind….
