Did you know The Spanish Village Art Center was built in 1935? And it’s still as amazing as ever!
They designed it to look like a charming old village in Spain for the
second California Pacific International Exposition, and it is still thriving today.
The Spanish Village is a community of 250 artists.
Each artist has a little working studio around this beautiful and colorful courtyard.
The cool part is meeting the artists, seeing demonstrations of art being created, shopping
and just enjoy the unique atmosphere.
Admission is free and you will find sculptors, metalsmiths, jewelry designers, clay artists, gourd artists,
photographers, printmakers, fiber designers, basket makers, glass artists and many more…..
The whole place has an artsy feel to it!
From the way they paint their front door to little knick knacks sitting everywhere….
And the artsy feel extends to their signs as well!
Glass blowing demonstration….
There are lots of beautiful things to tempt the shopper!
And maybe you’d like a peek at why I was there….?
as well as heirlooms for generations to come.

“During World War II, the US Army used the Spanish village art center for temporary barracks. In 1947, it was reclaimed and restored by the artists. San Diego artists continue to preserve and enhance this historical landmark by adding to its beauty with colorful flowers and unique entryways.”
