Cedar Creek Falls has been on my hiking bucket list for years –
we recently had the opportunity to go and it was incredible!
We saw tons of wildflowers…
We were startled by a Western Racer Snake, but relaxed (a little bit)
when we saw it wasn’t a rattlesnake…whew!
The hills were green and covered with wildflowers – if you look down in the middle of the canyon
in the next pic you can see our itty bitty trail to the falls.
We had to wade through an icy stream SIX TIMES on our way to and from the waterfall.
And stop and dry off and put our hiking socks and shoes on and then do it all again..
….a little tedious but fun and refreshing!
And at last THE WATERFALL!
So beautiful and powerful with all our recent rains….
is a great drone video from Fox News showing more of the falls.
And then, had the best tasting picnic EVER!
Well, I’ll just note that after 6.5 miles of hiking with an elevation gain of 1200ft
we were definitely ready for a nutritious break!
Here’s a link to the trail if you want to go.
And please bring sun protection, a LOT OF WATER and
don’t forget you need A PERMIT before you go because they only allow
a limited number of hikers each day!
