Universal Studios- Had to see Harry Potter World for myself…,

I’ve been a fan of Harry Potter ever since I read the first book aloud to Matt when he was five.
So that’s a long time.  And I’ve also been waiting a long time to see
Universal Studio’s Harry Potter World – and this week it happened! [cue the happy dance!]
We ended up buying a Universal Studios annual pass from Costco
for the same price as a regular one day admission ticket, so it was an obvious choice.
(It has some black out dates but that’s fine because I wouldn’t want to go when it’s crazy busy!)
We also grabbed a room at the Universal Sheraton Hotel
so we could enjoy two days in a row and didn’t have to fight rush hour traffic on the drive north or pay for parking at Universal.
 The verdict?
We loved it!  They did such a great job recreating everything from Hogwarts to Hogsmead,
to the train and platform 9 3/4; the shops, the architecture – just everything was amazing!

The attention to detail is awesome too – we had fun just wandering around taking it all in.
Check out the little mandrakes on display while you are
waiting in line to go on the Harry Potter and the Forbidden Forest ride…

The sorting hat -gives you a word of welcome and then sorts you for the ride.
It’s hard to resist buying a magic wand…they are everywhere!

And the wands REALLY DO make magic things happen- so you see little kids waving wands
and casting spells enthusiastically all over town!

When was the last time you listened to a frog choir?

We had a tasty lunch at the Three Broomsticks.  Just like Harry.

And don’t get me started on the deliciousness of butterbeer!
(It’s kind of like cream soda with butterscotch and cream  – non alcoholic and available
cold, frozen and warm.)

It’s fun to see all the amazing little shops….recreated from the books and movies….

And there are ‘purchasing opportunities’ EVERYWHERE.

They almost got me on this owl puppet, but I restrained myself….

After Harry Potter World, we rode some of the other rides like the
Mummy Roller coaster, Jurasic Park, Transformers, Despicable Me,  Walking Dead, etc
and saw a few shows – my favorite was the Special Effects Stunt show.

And the tram ride through their back lot is excellent!

And who could resist a pic with my favorite cartoon character of ALL TIME = Scooby Doo!

Highly recommend this for a fun family outing!
And I have my annual pass now in case Matt wants to go next time he’s home….
or in case anyone out there wants me to go with them….just sayin’
