Congrats on your engagement!
There are tons of things on your to do list and life is crazy, but make sure you take time to schedule your engagement portrait session…..
(BTW: Bikes and balloon Engagement Session on the beach – more fun HERE)
I believe your engagement session is Chapter 1 of your love story – where your story started, and is your time to really reflect the true YOU!
It’s also the only time to get to know your wedding photographer
(That way we’re already friends before wedding day!)
you have a chance to see their work while there’s still time to hire someone else
— there are no do-overs on wedding day so a test run is a great thing!
So here’s a bit of advice on how to make sure we capture the engagement portraits of your dreams!
Here are three things to consider when picking the best time
to schedule your engagement session:
1. How will you use your engagement photos?
Will you need your engagement photos for your wedding website?
Or for your Save the Date cards ?
Or are you thinking they will be a personal memento to help remember this amazing time in the life of you and your fiance?
If you plan to send Save the Date cards with your engagement portraits
I suggest you schedule your session early.
Schedule your session at least a month before you want to mail them.
If your engagement portraits will be just for your own use you could take them at any time between getting engaged and saying ‘I DO!’
Katie and Blake recreated their First Date for their Engagement Portrait Session
…….the same movie theatre and the same walk on the beach……
Consider incorporating the theme of your wedding –
rustic cowboy boots anyone? More portraits
Consider the season
When scheduling your engagement session, keep the climate in mind! Are you a summer girl and love all things barefoot and bright? Are you dreaming of playing in the snow for your engagement session?
Walking through colorful leaves? Splashing at the beach?
Consider your schedule (and your photographer’s)
I generally book sessions two months in advance –
so schedule early!

If you have any questions about anything, let me know – I can help brainstorm locations, seasons and the best time for your session!
Years from now, all that will remain of your special day is your photographs, so choosing your photographer is one of your most important wedding day decisions.
