HIking at Mission Trails: Surrounded by beauty
Mission Trails has got to be one of the best places for a hike. There are a ton of different trails – starting from easy (Visitor’s Center Loop) all the way to super advanced
-super steep up the mountains!
One of my favorite easier trails is the one that takes you to the
old Mission Dam
The dam was built by local Indians on the orders of the Franciscan Friars from the San Diego Mission in 1809,
The dam at the head of Mission Gorge and is 244-foot long, and 13-foot wide dam
The usefulness of the dam to the mission would not last very long: the dam was in disrepair and mostly in ruins. The remains of the dam are still in place, but the flume system is long gone.
