Why am I bundled up like I’m photographing in Alaska?
Because it’s 60 degrees out and I’m a cold-sissy…but hey, 60 degrees is COLD!
Now that we’ve established that I don’t do cold….
let me set the scene for you – every year I hike up the hill near Poway Road
with all my camera gear to capture some amazing portraits of
Debbie and Tom’s 100 foot Christmas Tree.
I met Debbie and Tom when I photographed their WEDDING
(Sweetest couple and so much fun by the way…)
AND in addition to that my house is near their beautiful Christmas tree –
so it’s always been a special part of our holiday tradition for years and years.
Each year I love to treat them to a professional photograph of their tree….
hence my hike up the hill!
I start photographing just before sunset and keep on snapping until it’s dark.
I’ll let you in on a little secret – this year’s tree theme is “God Bless America”
and they are dedicating it to the mayor of Poway, Steve Vaus,
because they heard him sing “God Bless America” at an event they attended and it touched
their hearts….so now you know the whole story!
Thank you Debbie and Tom for your amazing gift to our community!
And can I just point out the benefits of high quality,
professional cameras and lenses –
the final two portraits were captured over a mile away from Scripps Ranch….
(I love how you can still see each light bulb and the silhouette of their home…!)
as well as heirlooms for generations to come.
