One Potato Chip for breakfast a.k.a. Hiking Mt. Woodson

Climbed to Potato Chip Rock last week!
It’s near the top of Mt. Woodson (which is just off highway 67 on the way to Ramona…)
Couldn’t resist taking a bite….VERY CRUNCHY!

The hike is a doozy – steep but definitely worth the views!

Local Native-Americans were reported to call Mt. Woodson “The Mountain of the Moonlit Rock,” which describes the omnipresent and highly reflective white granite boulders.
These boulders formed within the earth as part of one massive granite block.

There are two trails up to Mt. Woodson, one from Lake Poway and one from highway 67
(that’s the one we took – it’s shorter but steeper.)

And I added some labels to the next pic so you can see where we were….
