Frivolous Friday: The one with me hanging around the US Olympic Team!

Frivolous Friday

Frivolous:  carefree and not serious, lighthearted, giddy

Yep, this happened:

  • I hung around the US Olympic Team!  (This was weeks ago, but I thought it would be fun to share on the first day of the Olympics….)  I planned a visit when I read that the public was invited to the US Archery team’s Olympic final trials at the amazing US Olympic training facility.  (This is an amazing place, by the way – if you haven’t been – GO!)   HERE‘s their website.
  •

Bows during their break time

Scopes for coaches to monitor accuracy…

Great view of the Olympic Training Center building and flame.

  •  While watching the Olympic trials, I enjoyed a visit with the Makenzie Brown’s mom (She is the #1 female archer.)  She shared Makenzie’s story (she started archery at 10 years old when she took an after school class – then moved into the Chula Vista Olympic Training Facility at 14 (while her family stayed in Texas – how hard would that be?)  Now she’s 21 and the only female archer headed for Rio.    Anyway – I will be watching for her at the Olympics!  Hope you will cheer for her too!….

I  also enjoyed watching the BMX Olympic Trials.  There are 3 different BMX tracks at the facility.

It was thrilling to see how fast they go and how high they jump!
