Ephesus contains the largest collection of Roman ruins in the eastern Mediterranean.
And if you can believe it, only 15% has been excavated so far…..
We walked along the ancient streets, visited the library and went inside of some ancient homes.
(Clearly, restoration is painstaking work!)
One of the highlights for our family was the Great Theatre
A statue of Kitty Cat-Maximus?
Ephesus was an important centre for Early Christianity too, Apostlle Paul lived in Ephesus, working with the congregation and organizing missionary activity
Paul wrote the letter 1 Corinthians from Ephesus while he was in prison
The Gospel of John might have been written in Ephesus, and Ephesus was one of the seven cities addressed in the Book of Revelation
Ancient Public bathrooms really were PUBLIC –
everyone just sat next to each other in the center of town…
