Road Trip Divas: San Diego Downtown Library and Lunch at Bottega Americano

Grab a cup of coffee and settle in because I have a fun birthday adventure to share with you today – a long post with tons of photos!
First up on our birthday road trip was lunch at Bottega Americano – a newish restaurant not far
from Petco Park and right next to The New Central Library.
The restaurant’s decor is amazing – and I got carried away taking pictures of it!
There are individual tables and community tables scattered all around– so fun!
They also have a fun little carry out section too.
We decided to pick some different things and share.
Pierogies, pizza and a yummy salad!

And the waiter surprised our birthday girl with a special birthday treat!

Happy Birthday Wendy!!!
And we loved her even more because she shared her fudge pie with us…..
Wendy picked the new Central Library as her birthday adventure place –
and we were all excited to tour it so it was really a gift for everyone!
The architecture is amazing!
It is 497,652 square feet (featuring nine stories including a charter
school on two levels, two levels of parking, an auditorium and a café)

Special Library Features
• Outdoor Garden Courtyard and Café
• 350-seat auditorium
• Three-story domed reading room
• 333-seat, west-facing multi-purpose room
• 3,797-square-foot Teen Center
• 9,141-square-foot Children’s Room
• Technology Center
• 163 square foot Café

The little store was adorable too!
We strolled around each level just to see what there was to see.
Like Old maps!

And “US Congressional Serial Set”
(Don’t know what that is, and from the sound of it, I don’t want to know)

Then we ventured up to the top floor look out level and discovered there was a
rare book museum and a genealogy library.

The docent in the Rare Books Museum was amazing and gave us a mini tour of
all the wonderous things they have….

Well, bottom line — GO you will have a great time~!
