Just one apple
Okay, raise your hand if you have one of these in your refrigerator right now.
Just as I suspected: EVERYONE has one.
Well did you know you can make a yummy dessert with it?
How about an Apple Oven Cake?
First slice up that apple
(and YES you do use a red, sweet apple – not a tart baking apple)
Then melt some butter in an ovenproof frying pan:
Toss in some brown sugar and cinnamon
Then add in that yummy apple
(yep – just ONE apple)
Can you smell this? Heavenly!
In the blender, whirl some eggs, flour, milk and salt
(See? bet you have all that on hand too!)
Pour it right in on those heavenly apples!
Then put ‘er in the oven…bake until golden brown and puffy.
Sprinkle on powdered sugar and some lemon juice….
Now you know what to make for dessert tonight!
- APPLE OVEN CAKE
Cooking Time: 15 minutes
- Servings: 6
- Preparation Time: 5-10 minutes
- 3tbsp butter
- ¼ cp packed light brown sugar
- 1/8 tsp cinnamon
- 1 sweet apple
- 3 large eggs
- ¼ tsp salt
- ½ cp flour and milk each
- 1 tbsp of lemon juice and powdered sugar
Melt butter in cast iron fry pan, add cinnamon and sugar and swirl,
add apple and cook until just starting to soften about 3 minutes
In a blender, whirl together eggs, salt, flour and milk.
Pour egg mixture into pan and bake until puffed and brown- about 15 minutes. Sprinkle with lemon juice and powdered sugar.
