The Friday Night Knitting Club

My book club just finished reading a terrific book called “The Friday Night Knitting Club.”

Wendy was this month’s hostess. She treated us to a yummy lunch (A wonderful salad, the Oatmeal Blueberry Orange muffins mentioned in the book and the most delicious Cappuccino Fudge Brownies!….(you would have LOVED it….too bad I forgot to take pictures for you….)

But hold on — there’s more!

Well, during our book club, Wendy presented each of us with a gift bag filled with knitting needles, yarn and a pattern – isn’t she just the SWEETEST?

We are team-knitting an afghan for “Warm Up America!”

Warm Up America! is an organization made up of volunteers who create handmade afghan blankets, clothing and accessories to help those in need. These items provide warmth and comfort to people who have lost their homes, fled abusive relations, or are being cared for in hospices, shelters, hospitals, and nursing home. Useful and ornamental needlework and knitting are capable of being made, not only sources of personal gratification, but of high moral benefit, and the means of developing in surpassing loveliness and grace, some of the highest and noblest feelings of the soul. ~from The Ladies’ Work Table Book, 1845
